Grands Boulevard school in ParisThe main French Language School is located on the second floor of a typical Parisian building on the Grands Boulevards in the heart of the French capital and offer s a wide range of French courses in Paris. It is just a short walk from the Louvre, the George Pompidou Centre (Beaubourg) and the infamous Grands Magasins. This area of Paris is world-famous as many films have been shot on location here. The area is a well-known and endless source of inspiration in the film-making industry.

There are 20 bright and spacious classrooms, fully equipped with audiovisual material. There is an internet area (free internet access) in which you can work on a computer as well as a cafeteria. Drink/snack machines and a public phone (card operated) are all available.

St Nicholas Summer school in ParisDuring the busier Summer months the school operates a second School located on the St Nicolas Campus where students can stay and attend classes in the same location. The Campus is located in southern Paris near the Exhibition Park of Porte de Versailles and under 5 minutes on foot from Aqua boulevard (swimming pool and water leisure centre).

This is a new, modern building comprising of 30 classrooms, a computer area (free internet access), a cafeteria and self-service restaurant with large terraces. Drink/snack machines are all available. Students can chose to stay in a single or double room with half-board on the St Nicolas Campus.

French Courses

Standard course

This short term course is suitable for students that want a general French course focusing on the four key language skills: speaking, reading, writing and listening. Suitable for students with previous knowledge of French or complete beginners that have a short time to spend learning the language abroad.

Intensive courses

This course is as the standard course but with 6, 10, 14, 18, 25 or 32 extra French lessons per week. Ideal for students that want learn French in Paris on an Intensive short term course.

Afternoon courses

These afternoon courses are as the standard French course of 20 lessons a week or the Intensive course of 26 lessons per week but with lessons in the afternoons. Perfect for student who have commitments that mean they cannot make morning lessons.

Combined courses

Students follow the Intensive French course A or B in Paris and have an extra 5 or 10 private lessons each week depending on how intensive a course they desire. Perfect for students that want the diversity of a group course but would like a few private lessons to focus on a specific area of the language, topic or exam.

French for Life course

This long term course is as the Standard or Intensive French courses in Paris but for a longer duration. Particularly popular with Gap Year students, people on Career breaks or students that have a several months spare to learn French.

French AS/A-level revision course

The course will be adapted to the needs of the A/AS Level exam, and will be a combination of listening, writing, speaking and reading exercises, as well as grammar revision, incorporating authentic A/AS. Level material. Extra one-to-one lessons can be scheduled on request.

French 50+ course

This French course of 20 French lessons is specifically for students 50 and over who want to learn French with their peers. It includes 3 half-days of activities, e.g. Eiffel Tower, boat trip on the Seine, sightseeing tour, Louvre Museum, Orsay Museum, Montmartre, Latin Quarter, Ile de la Cité, Museum of Perfume, Petit Palais and the Rodin Museum. Private tuition

Lessons can be tailored to the needs and requirements of the students, to a particular subject or focusing on a specific exam. Students can have private lessons on a 2 to 1 basis providing they are of a similar ability.

Accommodation

Host Family

Our host families have been carefully chosen by the school and are located in Paris. Families are used to welcoming students and know how to help them familiarise themselves with the French way of life and culture. The following options are available: single room, shared room (if arriving with a friend), bed & breakfast, half-board (breakfast and dinner) and breakfast & kitchen access. The half-board option is ideal for practising French outside the classroom.

Residences

Transfer

On request, the Language School can organise a personalized welcome for their students on their arrival in Paris. This service will meet you at the airport or the train station and drive you to your accommodation.

Leisure

In addition to language courses, the French Language School in Paris regularly organises cultural activities for its students enabling them to have a better understanding and appreciation of French culture. This program varies according to the season and the Parisian cultural events.
Some examples are:

  • Walks in historic and picturesque areas of the capital either with a guide or on fact-finding missions designed by our teaching department: the Latin Quarter with Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Marais, Montmartre with the Sacré-Cœur .
  • Guided tours of the city’s many museums: the Louvre, the Museum of Modern Art, thePicasso Museum, etc.
  • Outings to the cinema or the theatre which often give rise to lively discussions in Parisian cafés.
  • Excursions in the Loire Valley and its famous castles.

In the summer, students are invited to attend weekly conferences held at the school on various topics of French civilization.
